Cockroach Management Service
Cockroaches are probably the worst household pest that can be dealt with as they come in search of food and hide well unless a good population is present in your house. They can be found infesting everything from homes to restaurants to ships and planes. They may follow water pipes and electrical lines through walls from one room to another and even from one apartment to another.
Cockroach infestation:
Cockroaches are accomplished hitchhikers. Cockroaches usually first get into buildings by riding in boxes, in furniture, and other items brought into the building. Most other cockroach species invade from the outside or sewers or drains. Most cockroaches prefer to rest on wood rather than on metal and other surfaces. That’s why you’ll often find them living in wood cabinets or cardboard boxes. Cockroach fecal material contains a pheromone that tells other cockroaches that an area is a good place to harbor. Large numbers of cockroaches may congregate in areas where fecal material has accumulated. These areas are called aggregation points. All dishes and food items should be removed from shelving before treating for cockroaches. Good sanitation helps put stress on a cockroach population by making them more susceptible to treatments and baits.
Cockroaches adapt well to residential or commercial properties and are extremely hardy creatures. How to Know If You Have Cockroach Infestation:
- 1. Faecal residue
- 2. Foul odour especially in damp and dark areas
- 3. Egg cases
- 4. Body parts usually limbs
Treatment:
Gel and Spray Treatment: Bayer gel is applied in closed cabinet areas, in tables, door hinges and drawers. An odorless spray will be sprayed in all open areas such as window frames, balconies, bathrooms, etc. All dishes and food items should be removed from shelving before treating for cockroaches. Good sanitation helps put stress on a cockroach population by making them more susceptible to treatments and baits.
Cockroach Prevention Tips:
- Proof Entry Point – Cracks and cracks around the sink, window and electrical windows and make sure the kitchen wall and floor tiles are well numbered.
- Store food items appropriately – use Tupperware or metal containers where possible, with a tightly fitting lid.
- Good Housekeeping – Clean up leftover food, sweep away any food scraps and mop the spillage immediately. Clean and clean all surfaces and floors regularly, removing all food residue.
- Eliminate clutter – Take supplies from locked boxes and stores in cupboards and open metal shelving. This will reduce the harbor areas for cockroaches and aid visual inspections.
